School Has Started!

For weeks Sarah had been asking when we were going to start school, this week we finally did it! We started our school at home on Monday. I guess I should say "officially" because we have always work at home, the difference now is that we have a more elaborate routine so we can start establishing some discipline for the future years.

I've heard that Kindergartner and 1st grade need to be very simple and relaxed, so that's exactly what we are trying to do. I'm holding my self from getting too excited and burning ourselves out.

So for those of you who have asked me this is how we have scheduled our day:

Breakfast (Around 9:00am)
Brush teeth and change pj's

Bible study
Memory verses
Reading time

Chores(if the girls finish early they have some time to play)

Letter of the week (this includes language, math, bible character from bible study and geography, which Lutfi does once during the week).

Project (coloring, crafts)

Snack (Around 11:00am)

Play time

Handwriting

Lunch (around 1:00pm)

More reading time

Quiet time (which is not always very quiet! But the rule if that the girls have to be in their room for 1-2 hours.)

And the rest of the afternoon is free.

Of course this is not written on stone, but it gives me an idea of how to manage my time and accomplish most of what has been planned.

I've been praying really hard that we all can keep up with our plans. I have to confess that I'm not a very organized person and keeping a schedule is a real challenge, but I think it's the only way I will be able to accomplish anything.

I will be posting more next week. This will be our place to share how we do in this journey.
Thank you for stopping by!
